October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. So, starting this month, and continuing throuh the end of the year, we're introducing a new 16oz. Candle for a Cure, called "Hope". It has a high end perfume that compares to "After Dark", and "Fresh Linen". This special candle will retail for $22.95. $6.00 from the sale of every candle will be donated to the Susan G. It has been a crazy, fun, busy summer with the family. Now that the air is cooler, and the leaves are changing, everyone is starting to close up their homes to try to keep the chill out. I know I'm putting off turning the furnace on as long as possible, but it's getting colder at night. All of these things mean it's Candle Season to me. Now, it's time to get back to business, and I couldn't be happier to buckle down and get back to work. I'm working on getting into a few craft shows in the next few months, so keep checking back to see where I'll be (on the "Where to Find Me" page ofcourse) And with craft shows, there are always a few extra deals to be had.
We added a few new products during the summer, and improved the "soy soap alternative bars" (and you thought they couldn't get any better ... wait till you try these).
We are also getting new simmer pots. They will come in 4 colors, and use a heating element, instead of a light bulb to heat the melts.
Another new addition is the Blueberry Pie in the Bakery collection.
And, we now have new jar candles. The new size is "Grande" - it has 26oz. of our awesome, all natural, triple scented, gourmet wax.

Wow, time has just been flying by. I've had the "sweet pea" candles now for a couple of weeks. That is a really nice scent, sort of light floral with a little bit of fruit. It's been really popular.
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. My family and I had lots of fun. It is the unofficial start to summer, and I admit I do have to get back into the habit of using sunscreen. We were more worried about the mosquitos than the sun this weedend, and got sunburns. A sunburn is something that everyone should avoid (it's a simple thing to do, just use sunscreen), but when I have an absent-minded moment (like I did this past weekend), it was very nice to have a few extra tubes of the "balm". I think it truely is a MUST for the summer season. When I get a sunburn, first I'll take a shower, using the "soy soap alternative"bar, and then after I get out and dry off, I put the "balm" on my sunburn - even (or I should say especially) on my face, and neck. And then a few times during the day, I will reapply it. It keeps it smooth, soft, and moisturized. It doesn't sting, or itch, or peel ! I know, it's not advertised, or marketed as a "sunburn remedy" , and the tube says it's a "hand and foot" lotion, but it is awesome for so much more, and it IS an absolute must to get your feet in condition for "sandal season". There's alot to talk about this month. The pear pomegranate candle was great. Slightly lighter than the pomegranate with a touch of pear.
This month's candle of the month is Honey Bee Vanilla. That is a very nice scent, and a portion of the sales of the honey bee vanilla candles and melts will be donated to Penn State Agricultural College to research Colony Collapse Disorder. Whole colonies of bees are just disappearing. Many of the world's crops are pollinated by bees.With out bees, there would be no food crops.
And now for the new line I was talking about in last month's blog. It's a line of healthy mineral make up. You can find all of the info about this exciting line on my products page (
http://www.jamiscandlesplus.scent-team.com/products.php ). They're allready creating quite a buzz among the ladies who have tested the line and loved the results. The products should be ready for shipping late May, or early June. I can't wait to try it myself.
We did a candle party this weekend, and the new products were very popular, especially the spa line, and after dark, and there are several people waiting for the fireside candle to become available. It was very successful, everyone received a door prize, and had lots of fun getting together with friends and family. Guests were also able to purchase candles at discounted party prices, and reduced shipping charges (reduced over website orders). The party isn't closed yet, and the hostess is expecting a couple more outside orders, but sofar, she has earned $20 in Bella Bucks (discount on her order), 25% off of any 2 items, she can purchase the spa line 4 pack at a great discount ($65 ... $45 if she uses the bella bucks for that item), she received a jar candle in her favorite scent - Spring Fever- for free, just for hosting the party, and she had more than 10 guests attend the party, so she also received a gift basket (a $20 value) for free, and if she gets those outside orders, her benefits will only increase - meaning more discounts, and bella bucks (free items) for her. We'll see the total on Wed. I think it turned out better than she expected.

And, I can't wait for the UPS guy to get here, my "pear pomegranate" candles will be here today! I LOVE getting new candles :o) We should be introducing another new line before the end of April. More about that in a couple of weeks, more about the new candle later this weekend - after I get a chance to burn one.

We're well into candle season now, and we have some really great new holiday scents. There's still time to order products, or schedule parties to receive your products before Christmas. I've been receiving my orders within a week of placing orders, and have been informed that I can continue to expect this service.
I love this time of year. I start burning the holiday scents the beginning of November (and listening to Christmas music). I think my favorite scent, ritht now, is our newest holiday scent - Holiday Memories. If you like cinnamon scents, you will LOVE this one.
Have you ever smelled something so good, and gotten that taste in the back of your mouth? We have a few candles that give me that experience. Isn't it funny how your sense of smell can be tied into so many other experiences. For instance, the first time I smelled the Cotton Candy candle, I could TASTE cotton candy. I thought that was the coolest thing. That SWEET TASTE of cotton candy, and NONE of the calories. And then you think of the last time you had cotton candy, and the first time you can remember tasting cotton candy. And it brings you back to a nicer place and time. And the new Birthday Cake jar candle makes me just want to stick my finger in and lick the frosting.
Just the other day, I was burning my Spiced Cranberry candle. The scent has always reminded me of the Friendship Tea that my grandmother used to make. She's not here with us physically anymore, but I love her dearly, and miss her greatly. Anyway, that candle brought back the sweetest memory for me the other day. I remember one cold wintery day that I wasn't feeling well, and I was home from school - at Granny's. We were watching The Price is Right with Bob Barker, and drinking Friendship Tea. It tasted so good. It was hot tea, and it had Tang in it, and cinnamon, and, I think, cloves, and some more other yummy things. And that memory brought back the wonderful feelings of spending time with my grandmother, just the two of us, sharing a day together. All that, just from the scent of one little candle.
Candles ALWAYS make me feel better! ;D
